Balance difficulties most often result from problems in your inner ear. This is called the vestibular system. The most common symptoms of balance problems include dizziness, light-headedness, faintness, physical disorientation and feelings of vertigo.
Normal balance requires that your muscles, bones, joints, visual senses, hearing, blood and heart vessels all function normally. When your musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system and central nervous system aren’t functioning normally, you may experience balance problems and symptoms. Based on the type and severity of your balance disorder, Dr. Burt offers a number of treatment options including:
- Vestibular rehabilitation
- Fall prevention
- Head positioning procedures
- Diet and lifestyle changes
